Frequently asked questions

A clearer start to your KAI relationship.

Learn about our team, accounting transitions, tax planning, fractional CFO support, fees, and service locations. For questions specific to your business, speak with our team.

Can KAI handle our bookkeeping and corporate tax together?

Yes. We can coordinate bookkeeping, year-end accounting, corporate tax, and related planning within one engagement. We review your current arrangements and agree on the scope before starting.

How is tax planning different from preparing a return?

A tax return reports what has already happened. Tax planning reviews the implications of decisions before you make them, such as how you pay yourself, hold assets, or reorganize your company.

Does your team include a CPA?

Yes. Our team includes one Chartered Professional Accountant, along with five senior tax accountants who each have more than 15 years of experience, ten bookkeepers, and two administrative staff.

Can you work with our current bookkeeper?

Yes. We can discuss an arrangement that supports your current bookkeeping process while KAI handles the agreed accounting, tax, or advisory work. We clarify responsibilities and information requirements at the outset.

How do we move our accounting to KAI?

We review your software, records, filing status, and upcoming deadlines. With your authorization, we coordinate the information needed from your previous provider and explain any outstanding work.

How are fees determined?

Fees depend on the work required, the complexity of your business, and the condition of your records. We explain the proposed scope, fee structure, and any retainer before the engagement begins.

Can you help with a CRA letter or overdue returns?

Yes. We can review the correspondence, identify the relevant deadlines, and assess the records and filings required. CRA communication is undertaken with the appropriate client authorization.

Do you provide fractional CFO support?

Yes. These engagements can include forecasts, management reporting, financial analysis, and advice on major business decisions. The scope and frequency of support are agreed with you.

Can you help us prepare for financing or a business sale?

We can help organize financial information, prepare forecasts, and assess accounting and tax considerations. We coordinate with lenders, legal counsel, and other advisors where their expertise is required.

Where do you serve clients?

We serve clients in Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland through Coquitlam, and in Kelowna and the Okanagan. We are also expanding into Calgary and Edmonton. Contact us to discuss consultation arrangements for your location.
